Congratulations! We made it to 2019, guys! Chances are you're feeling both inspired and overwhelmed by all the online classes and programs out there telling you how to set goals for the new year, "live your best life"...blah, blah, blah. Don't get me wrong, I've DONE those programs. Sometimes they're even helpful! But for me, it always feels more attainable to focus on ONE thing I can improve and go from there. And in 2018, that one thing was: learn to use social media to get paying clients.

Last summer I launched my copywriting business (yay!) because I wanted more freedom with my time and energy while still using my creative skills to support myself financially. The biggest lesson I learned was how HUGELY important it was to define and refine  my social media presence  in order to bring in more paying clients. I definitely took some stumbles along the way and it took at LEAST a couple months for me to find my groove, but making a few very small-but-meaningful changes made all the difference.

The biggest game changer for me was investing in some professional recording equipment for my social media. Now, when I say "invested" I don't mean dropped a bunch of cash; I mean I researched the crap outta a bunch of stuff to find the highest quality products for the most affordable price- because when you're starting a business, every penny *literally* counts. Also I didn't want to buy a bunch of crap that was going to break in a month and/or that I didn't really need.

SO, lovely ones, below is a list of 5 affordable things (6 items but I gave 2 options for one type of product) that I PERSONALLY OWN and stand by as truly helping me build my social media presence and get more paying customers. See if any of them sound like they can help you, too!

Click on the photos below to go directly to Amazon product page...

Amazon Basics Tripod: $14.99
This is the number one game-changer for me and my business's social media presence! It's SO simple, but it really makes a HUGE difference to be able to have my hands free during my videos! I own this particular tripod and recommend it for a few reasons: it's SUPER lightweight while not being flimsy (i.e. it won't blow over in the wind if you're filming outside!), the carrying case is super handy, and I can fit it in my purse.

Cell Phone Tripod Mount: $17.95
Okay, so there are a lot of options for a cell phone mount, some more affordable than this, but after going through 3 or 4 mounts, this one is by far my favorite. The reason is because it has the ability to swivel ANY way you wish; the ball that connects to the back of the phone allows you to mount on a tripod for top-down videos (great for instructional how-to's) as well as face-to-face. But if you want something super affordable...

Insten Camera Stand Clip: $4.98
If you already have a tripod and just want to try mounting a phone without investing much, this little baby will only set you back five bucks. For the price of a cup of coffee, you can be filming your episodes of IGTV in no time! This is the first phone tripod clip I tried and I used it for a year successfully before upgrading to the clip above.

Camera/GoPro/Phone Stand + Remote: $13.98
If your online biz involves traveling at all- this is the option for you! This little tripod can be molded to fit any uneven surface. It also holds not only a phone but a small digital camera or GoPro as well! Extra cool feature? It comes with a remote that can take pictures/record video for you when press the button. No more dealing with a self-timer!

Clip-On Cellphone Ring Light :$9.99
I can't tell you how much my confidence level goes up when there's good lighting! The reason I like this one in particular is it's affordable AND there's 4 levels of adjustable brightness. Not only does good lighting make me feel better, but it makes my videos look more professional, especially if I'm shooting for something more than my personal instagram (like a webinar, youtube video, or a client Skype meeting). This little baby fits every phone; you just clip it around the camera lens and you're ready for your closeup. That's it. SO easy!

Clip-On Lapel Microphone: $19.99
There are more expensive options for lav microphones- and if a big part of your business is webinars or instructional videos, I highly recommend looking into them! This one is great for anyone who wants to get their feet wet- it's especially handy if you ever do a video with an interview, or even a podcast episode. It allows you to move freely without worrying if you're facing your camera mic, and you don't have to stress about street/background noise during your recording session!

These are just a few of the products I personally recommend for upping your social media game in 2019 and beyond! If you'd like to see more, please visit my Amazon lists by clicking the button below. And yes, full disclosure, if you end up buying from the list I make a verrrrry small commission. But I truly wouldn't recommend anything I hadn't tried (and LOVED!) myself. I stand by all these products and hope they help you achieve your marketing and business goals!
